When you begin therapy with me, you’re stepping into a space where your emotional life is taken seriously, gently, and with genuine curiosity. I’m not here to judge you or to tell you how you “should” feel. Instead, my role is to help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface, especially the patterns and feelings that keep repeating even when you wish they wouldn’t.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a little different from quick fix approaches. We spend time understanding not just the symptoms you’re experiencing, but the emotional world that gives rise to them. People are often surprised by how relieving it can feel simply to have the space to talk honestly, without needing to hide, minimise, or stay “strong.” You don’t need to come in knowing exactly what you want to say. Part of the work is discovering that together.

In our sessions, I’ll pay close attention to your thoughts, feelings, physical reactions, and the subtle shifts in how you relate to me. Those moments often reveal the deeper patterns shaped by early experiences, relationships, and the ways you learned to protect yourself. Some of these patterns are helpful. Others may be holding you back in ways that feel confusing or exhausting. Our work is to bring them into awareness so you can have more choice and freedom in how you respond to the world.

You can expect me to ask thoughtful questions, gently challenge the parts of you that feel stuck, and help you slow down enough to notice what’s really happening inside. This might include recognising emotions you’ve learned to push away or understanding why certain interactions trigger old fears or guilt. At times the work feels peaceful and reflective. Other times, it might feel more emotional or tender. Both are normal, and both can be meaningful in moving toward change.

Therapy also unfolds at your pace. Some people come wanting to understand lifelong patterns. Others are navigating a recent crisis, relationship difficulty, or a sense of being overwhelmed. Wherever you’re starting from, we’ll work with what feels most pressing and build a shared understanding of your inner world as we go.

Over time, people often notice that their relationships shift, their emotional reactions make more sense, and they feel more grounded in themselves. The aim isn’t to remove your feelings but to help you relate to them differently, with more clarity, compassion, and less fear.

If you’re considering starting therapy, know that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. You just need enough curiosity to explore what’s happening inside you. I’ll walk alongside you as we make sense of it together.
